Category: book Nook
There was a time, it seemed that RFBD had just about everything I ever needed.
Or, I could find it on book share, or somewhere else.
I don't know if it's just me or my comunity college just picks books that nobody else is using or what. but I can't find any of the following in any format besides paper and that means I would need to scann it.
Programming Logic and Design, Introductory (edition: 4) 2006
Problem Solving, Abstraction and Design Using C++ 2007
Personal Finance - Text Only (edition: 8th)
I guess, if I have to scann it I am going to drop the programming one and do the personal finance one, I mean it wouldn't be so bad but both classes are online and the assignments are from the books.
and there is the option of a reader too. sigh, just sucks sometimes!
Shawn, it might be worth your while to go to a Kinko's or copy center, and pay them to scan the book in, depending on what they charge. You might also see if someone from the college would do it. You're right though, its a real pain when the stuff isn't already available.
Good luck
Lou
hmmm, they do that sort of thing? damn, that's a good idea!
Check and see if they can scan and OCR. Otherwise you may have to scan. Even if you need to scan one page at a time you should be able to get it all done in a few days assuming you have the time.
If they'll give you the files in a format properly numbered, for example page1.jpg page2.jpg page3.jpg etc etc then you could just have your OCR program of choice do a batch convert.
Another option for you is to consult the Disability Office at your school. According to ADA. You are entitled to reasonable accomodations. Scanning your book sis one of them.
Yeah, getting them was always tough, so... but that good ideas there. I hope I don't run in to that too much, though.
